Week of December 9, 2019

Important Dates:

-Progress Reports are available on the parent portal.
-Dress Down with a non-perishable donation on Wed., Dec. 11th
-Dress Down ($1 Donation) Friday, Dec. 13th
-K-6 Concert Saturday, Dec. 14th
-Ugly Sweater Dress Down ($1 Donation for SPCA) Thursday, Dec. 19th
-Early Dismissal Fri., Dec. 20th @ 12
-No School Dec. 23rd-Jan. 1st.  School resumes Jan. 2nd.

-Party Money $6 due as soon as possible.

-Book Challenge- Read nightly - submit your paper once you have read 10 books.

-Snack Time- Please do not send candy with your child.  This is supposed to be a snack that fills their belly until lunch time.

Reading: 
We will be taking a break from stories the next two weeks and will be focusing on an animal research project as well as writing.  Information about the project will be coming home Wednesday.  Projects will be due Tuesday, Dec. 17th. Fluency passage due Friday.

Spelling:
List #6 pretest Tuesday.  Corrections 3x each due Wednesday.  The focus is on r-controlled vowels.  Post test will be next Wednesday, Dec. 18th.

Grammar:
This unit's focus will be about nouns, starting with singular and plural nouns, quiz Tuesday, Dec. 10th.

-Math- Unit 3 math test will be Wednesday, unit 4 pretest Thursday on regrouping addition and subtraction. Homework Monday-Thursday.

-Science- Our focus for this marking period will be the solar system.  Tomorrow we will be discussing the seasons. 



Reminders: 
Our nightly homework will consist of a math sheet, review the spelling and vocab words, and reading fluency passage.  Some nights I will also send home a decodable reader.  Please take time to read it with your child and also model reading (fluency, expression, etc.).  Remember the most up to date homework can be found on my homework blog.
