Week of January 6, 2020

Important Dates:

-Start of 3rd M.P. Jan. 16th
-District Dress Down ($1) Jan. 17th
-No School for students Jan. 20th
-Report cards come home Jan. 24th
-Book Orders Due Jan. 24th
-Valentine's Day Party Feb. 13th
-No School for students Feb. 14th-17th
-Party Money $6 due as soon as possible.

-Book Challenge- Read nightly - submit your paper once you have read 10 books.  I will be sending home an additional log with everyone in hopes that they will fill it up.

-If your child would like a new daily folder, then please by all means get a new one.  Please make sure it has the 3 prongs to hold the clear sheets currently in their folder.

-We are in need of guest readers for the rest of the year.  If you are interested in reading to our class, please send me a note or message with dates and times that work for you.

January Birthday:

Reading: 
We start a new story this week.  The focus of the story will be text features (facts & details).  Fluency passage due Friday.

Spelling:
List # spelling corrections (3x each), due tomorrow.  Post test will be Tues., Jan. 14th. 

Grammar:
Our focus still remains on nouns.  We will continue working with singular/plural and also irregular plural nouns.

-Math- We will continue practicing regrouping of addition and subtraction.  There will be a quiz on addition regrouping on Tuesday. Homework Monday-Thursday.

-Science- Our next focus in science will be weather and the water cycle.  There will be a labeling quiz of the water cycle on Thursday.


Reminders: 
Our nightly homework will consist of a math sheet, review the spelling and vocab words, and reading fluency passage.  Some nights I will also send home a decodable reader.  Please take time to read it with your child and also model reading (fluency, expression, etc.).  Remember the most up to date homework can be found on my homework blog.
