Week of February 10, 2020

Important Dates:

-Valentine's Day Party Feb. 13th
-No School for students Feb. 14th-17th
-Dress Down Day Feb. 21st
-Dr. Seuss Day Feb. 28th-Party Money $6 due as soon as possible.

-Classroom Valentine's - Please make sure your child makes one for everyone in the class.  The updated class list can be found in their daily folder.

***If any PTO parent would like to attend the party, please let me know.  Also, if there is anyone interested in organizing it as well, I would really appreciate it.

-Book Challenge- Read nightly - submit your paper once you have read 10 books.  I will be sending home an additional log with everyone in hopes that they will fill it up.

-If your child would like a new daily folder, then please by all means get a new one.  Please make sure it has the 3 prongs to hold the clear sheets currently in their folder.

-We are in need of guest readers for the rest of the year.  If you are interested in reading to our class, please send me a note or message with dates and times that work for you.

***Our basket auction theme is games.  You can either send in a new game or a monetary donation and I will purchase the games for our basket.  All items are due Friday, April 3rd.

February Birthdays:
Starr - 16th
Maksim - 22nd
Chase W. - 24th

Reading: 
We will be testing on character traits and inferencing on Wednesday.  Fluency passage due Thursday.  Sight word list #6 quiz Thursday.

Spelling:
List #10 post test Tuesday.

Grammar:
Our next focus will be on possessive nouns.

-Math- We will begin discussing time to the nearest half and quarter hour.  Homework Monday-Wednesday.

-Social Studies- We continue discussing the presidents and what it takes to become president (being a good citizen).


Reminders: 
Our nightly homework will consist of a math sheet, review the spelling and vocab words, and reading fluency passage.  Some nights I will also send home a decodable reader.  Please take time to read it with your child and also model reading (fluency, expression, etc.).  Remember the most up to date homework can be found on my homework blog.
