Reading:

We are starting a new story: Exploring Space with an Astronaut.  The skill is main idea and details.  This will continue into next week because of the field trip on Friday.  Please read the decodable readers sent home with your child.  They do not need to be returned to school.

Math:

This weeks math is about pictographs, even/odd numbers, and missing numbers beyond 100.  Math fact practice will be coming home Monday-Thursday night.  Please make sure they are completed and returned the following day.  Math fluency assessments will happen throughout the week when I feel the children are ready; the assessments are not timed.  Please continue to encourage your child to practice their facts on Xtra Math.

Spelling:

List #2 is in your child's folder.  We are focusing on words with long vowels.  Pre-test is Monday and post-test next week (Wednesday).  Any misspelled words will need to be written 2x each for Monday's homework.  If your child gets a 100%, the advanced spelling list will be sent home.  Each week there are three additional words given to your child that are not on the test.  This is the application part of the test- to see if they can apply the phonics rule to spell a word.
