Important Dates/News:
-Free Dress Down Day Monday, Oct. 1st for Bully Prevention Month- You must wear blue in order for it to be free.
-1/2 Day for Students- Friday, Oct. 5th
-No School- Monday, Oct. 8th

Reading:
We are continuing to work on the skill- main idea and details. Vocabulary test is scheduled for Thursday, comprehension test Friday.
Math:
We are continuing our work on even/odd numbers and missing numbers beyond 100. Math fact practice will be coming home Monday-Thursday night. Please make sure they are completed and returned the following day. Math fluency assessments will happen throughout the week when I feel the children are ready; the assessments are not timed. Please continue to encourage your child to practice their facts on Xtra Math.
Spelling:
List #2 post-test is scheduled for Wednesday. Reminder: there are three additional words given to your child that are not on the test. This is the application part of the test- to see if they can apply the phonics rule to spell a word.
Phonics: Long Vowel Practice
Sight word list #1- We will begin testing on sight words every other week. While it is super important to be able to read the words, students are also required to spell the common words used in their writing. This list does not follow any particular rule like our spelling lists.
Science:
We are learning what the sun, moon and planets are like. A reader about the sun will be coming home later this week.
