Week of September 30, 2019

Important Dates/News:
-Blue Shirt Day Monday, Oct. 7th - Students may wear jeans if they wear a blue shirt.
-Book Order Due Friday, Oct. 18th
-Halloween Party Thursday, Oct. 31st
-Field Trip- Tuesday, Oct. 22nd- Dutch Apple Dinner Theater (Please return permission slip as soon as possible.)

-Party Money $6 due as soon as possible.

Reading: 
The next skill we will be focusing on is main idea.  Fluency passage due Friday.

Spelling:
List #3 corrections due Tuesday.  Post test will be Friday, Oct. 4th. 

-Grammar- Our next skill focus is on compound sentences.

-Math- Unit 1 Test Friday.  Homework Monday-Thursday.

-Social Studies- We continue reading about different types of community helpers.  This week we will also be discussing different types of communities - rural, suburban and rural.

Reminders: 
Our nightly homework will consist of a math sheet, review the spelling and vocab words, and reading fluency passage.  Some nights I will also send home a decodable reader.  Please take time to read it with your child and also model reading (fluency, expression, etc.).  Remember the most up to date homework can be found on my homework blog.
